Running the Vines 5K/10K at Shelton Vineyards

Running the Vines is the Yadkin Valley Wine Region's premier 5K/10K event featuring live music, delicious food, wine and NC craft beer - all on the beautiful grounds of Shelton Vineyards in Dobson, NC. In addition to a fun and exciting 5K/10K event, participants receive an awesome race t-shirt, custom finisher's medal, packet filled with sponsor goodies and 2 free tickets to the Shelton Vineyards Sunset Concert. Spend the day with us or make plans for a couples, friends, or girls getaway weekend!
2024 Race Shirt

Both races start and finish at Shelton Vineyards and feature beautiful views of the vineyard and neighboring country farms. The 5K Team Challenge offers a chance for you and your friends to show everyone who has the fastest team and take home the 5K Team Challenge trophy. Little "vine-runners" can take part in the Kids 1/2 Mile Kid's Fun Run sponsored by Chick-fil-A, where each will receive their own finisher's medal.

Friday, May 17th

Early Packet Pickup - 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Shelton Vineyards

Friday evening during Early Packet Pickup enjoy your favorite Shelton Vineyards wine on the winery terrace from 6:00 - 9:00 PM. A special "Race Ready" menu will be offered at Harvest Grill. Harvest Grill reservations are recommended by calling 336-366-3590 or at sheltonvineyards.com/harvest-grill.

Kid's 1/2 Mile Fun Run (Under 10 yrs.) $15 (includes a race t-shirt for kids pre-registered by April 30th and a finisher's medal for completing the Fun Run).

Packets will not be mailed to entrants. Races run rain or shine. Registration fees are not refundable.

You must register no later than April 30th to guarantee your race t-shirt and size.
Race t-shirts may be available on race day on a first-come, first-served basis in limited sizes and quantities. Our t-shirts are a super-soft, cotton-poly blend short-sleeve tee in unisex sizes.

Registrants 21 years of age and older receive two (2) tickets to the Sunset Concert the night of the race featuring Next Level Band. Additional tickets may be purchased in advance for $20 at www.sheltonvineyards.com or for $30 at the gate.

Running the Vines 5K Team Challenge

Participating in the Team Challenge is easy! Runners can create a new team or join an existing team when they register online for the 5K. Overall Male Winners

Sign up with your coworkers, church, school or running group. Anyone can participate in the Team Challenge - run for the "fastest team" trophy or just for fun! This is a great team-building opportunity for your company or organization.

A minimum of 5 team members must complete the 5K to be eligible for the Team Challenge "fastest team" award; there is no maximum number of members on a team. The team's score is calculated by the average time of the top 5 finishers on the team. The fastest team score wins the 5K Team Challenge trophy. Team members are also eligible for the 5K individual overall and age group awards.

Course Maps

Both the 5K and 10K races start and finish at Shelton Vineyards!! All race parking will be located at Shelton Vineyards and races will start and finish in front of the winery.

Those who would prefer to walk or run/walk are asked to sign up for the 5K. Strollers are allowed on the 5K, dogs are not permitted on the course, but are allowed outdoors on the grounds of Shelton Vineyards while leashed.

*The 5K and 10K courses are not certified

Timing & Awards

All 5K and 10K finishers will receive a finisher's medal.

The Top 3 Overall Male and Female winners of the 5K and 10K and Age Division winners will receive a custom wine barrel slider to add to their finisher medal.

In addition to their finisher medal and wine barrel slider, the Top 3 Overall Male and Female winners of the 5K and 10K will take home a bottle of Shelton Vineyards wine, a custom engraved stemless wine glass, and a premium Shelton Vineyards prize package.

The 5K Team Challenge team winner will receive a commemorative crystal team trophy.

5K & 10K Overall Male and Female 1st, 2nd, 3rd.

5K & 10K Age Divisions - Male and Female 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place: 13 and Under, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & Over.

5K Team Challenge - The winning team is decided by the average time of the 5 fastest team members. Team members are also eligible for individual overall and age group awards.

Afternoon Cooldown
Stick around after the race and enjoy a day of live music, awesome food, craft beer, delicious wine, and tours and tastings!

Evening Concert
From 6:30 - 9:30 PM race evening, enjoy the Shelton Vineyards Sunset Concert. Registered race participants age 21+ will receive two (2) complimentary tickets to the concert at packet pickup. Additional tickets may be purchased in advance for $20 at www.sheltonvineyards.com or the day of the concert for $25. Children 12 and under are free. Concerts are rain or shine.
